LS ECU

I've got the same problem with my 2015 XR 4040h. The fuel shutoff fuse keeps blowing. After a lot of diagnosis I decided to take the ECU apart, sure enough the board has a quarter size burn mark under the capacitors. Did you find a reasonable priced ECU replacement?
Just curious, but are there any other symptoms/issues or just one fuse that blows? And what else does that fuse apply to?

Well........I also just found out that my XR4040 will need a new ECU. I have about 480 hours on mine. To make matters worse, the price has gone up to near $5000 after tax. 1/4 of the cost of the tractor. Told the dealer to sit on it while I recover from the gut punch. I'm not complaining so much about having to replace an ECU, but the cost is stupid.
More environmental taxation

The ECU controller fuse 5 amp will blow if there is a new fuse in for the fuel shut off, they will both blow. If just the ecu controller fuse is new with a blown fuse in for the fuel shutoff, the ECU fuse will not blow.

Then why not try this; Leave the fuel shutoff fuse out. Leave the ECU fuse in (a good one). Disconnect the power wire to the fuel shutoff solenoid and instead power it with a jumper wire with battery voltage. See what happens.

Hi all, I'm one of those guys that looks at magic boxes when things go poof. Someone just brought me an ECU from a '15 LS XR4040H with a Shibaura motor. Symptoms were that it doesn't run, and blows the Fuel Shut-off fuse and the Engine control fuse. I can confirm that the ECU is burnt internally. I will be looking at it to see if there is anything that I can reverse engineer and repair. No idea yet, but trolling around here, it looks like this has happened to others, and the price for replacement is excessive. Thought it might be useful to at least confirm that it is definitely possible that some of them need the magic smoke replaced.

Does it still have to be programmed by a dealer?
Most likely since it is used on multiple models of different HP ratings. I'd guess it comes without any software flashed into the ECU.

My concern as well

Trying to get mine replaced under warranty.
If I can’t then will have to seriously consider getting from Messicks, but I wish I knew answer to programming.

It’s a 2 hr trip each direction to new dealer or $1000 for tech to come onsite. Neither attractive.

Wonder if it can be programmed not installed? I would be willing to take just the ECU to dealer. Of course that wouldn’t be cheap as it would also involve a Costco run which tends to be around $700.
