LS G3038H - Delivery Saturday 10-5-2014

We are selling our Ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains and the buyer wants our little (old) B-21 so I was going to be "CUT-less". I told my DW that, since our new plac was flat, adjoined two paved roads, and was only 2.5 acres of forest I really couldn't justify buying a tractor. Two days later I got the withdrawal symptoms - cold sweat, the shakes, blurry vision - it reminded me of the shape was in between when I sold my '74 CJ5 and before I got my '75 CJ5 Jeep. I had to get my "CUT FIX"!

Loving the durability of my B-21, I looked for a replacement and was stunned with the prices I was being quoted for a new B-26. I priced Mahindras, Kiotis, and New Holands - lots to like about each - then I stumbled on LS. Our dealer is the regional distributor and I liked his operation, prices, and the tractors impressed me. So I cut a deal for a G3038H, R4s, HD 4 in 1 and hydraulics kit, back hoe, 6' snow blower, and pallet forks for $29k, out the door, delivered to my place 45 miles away.

I get the whole mess on Saturday! With my back blade and 3-point chipper it will probably fill the 2.5 acres all by itself - a sea of blue! This is a canned photo from LS but I don't think a post should be without a photo and, since I'm 300 miles south of my actual tractor, this is the best I can do.

I think you will be pleased. I have 40 hours of heavy mow time on mine and I love it. I am an inexperienced operator who is mowing 5 years of unmowed Ozark brush smack dab in the middle of Mark Twain Nat. Forest and it has handled every task I have asked of it. My dealer which is Cole's Tractor and Equip out of Farmington, Mo has been excellent with info and parts needs. While breakdowns are inevitable, especially when mowing 6 ft high Ozark brush, grass and sapplings, I have built a great deal of confidence in my little tractor's abilities.

Well, I've had my G3038H for - WOW! - Four years in September and 750 hours, in general I'm pretty happy with the CUT. I had a Kubota B-21 TLB for eight years or so and really loved that little used machine - reliable? I did nothing but change fluids and it did everything I asked of it (that it could do). The LS is not quite the machine that the B21 was (so far as quality of engineering and build, but I like my LS for other reasons.

I love having 38 horses, I like the added FEL lift capacity, I like the TPH will lift more, I adore having a quick attach FEL, and I like that I paid not a lot more for my LS new than I paid for the B21 used - and the LS came with a 4n1, snowblower, and forks. That said, it has been a moderately interesting journey - not the nightmare a few have reported but interesting. First, the alternator went south, then they pulled it in to turn the improperly installed pistons 180 degrees and found that a cylinder was scored so they replaced the engine, the BH had lever freeze-up problems and were replaced, the BH valve blew the caps off several times (my dealer put on a rear remote that seemed to solve the problem, at no cost), the FEL lever's hold on screws back out regularly which results in the FEL failing to respond until I remember what the problem is, and she's a bit cold blooded (smoking when starting but not as badly as it did when I first bought it and thought I had a mosquito fogger).

All that and I'd still do it again. This tractor has giving me good service and is a remarkable value.
