- LS XG3025 TLB, Previously MT125 TLB, Craftsman GTS6500
I currently own an LS mt125 TLB w/ 94 hours on the clock. I have an opportunity to purchase a Yanmar 424 w/ TLB. I have 60 payments left on the LS, (made 11 payments), interest is at 4.99%. I estimate an average of about $550 a year in interest, at least the next 2 years, then decreasing thereafter. (Probably $16-1800 over the remainder). The initial package also included a PHD w/ a 9" auger, which I would be keeping, but I put $1000 down, so a wash.
The Yanmar would start over w/ a full 84 months, but 0% interest. The Yanmar has the same engine as the LS, but has higher hydraulic output (LS = 6.7, Yan = 8.0), which increases loader cap at least 200lbs, same w/ the 3 point. Plus higher weight, ground clearance, much larger tires.
I can get the Yanmar for $15 a month more. No money out of pocket, just fuel /time to go pick it up. (Estimated at $200-250 for fuel). I will be building a small house this summer, paying cash, so payments can't go up much.
There will be multiple tasks for the tractor, (trenching, grading, putting in stone drive, etc...) NO I don't need a 50hp or even a 35hp. I want to stay in the SCUT / small CUT. The LS has been flawless and has done everything I asked of it (biggest project so far was doing the septic system). I'm really on the fence with this. I keep thinking "I'll save all that interest", but I will be about $1300 in the hole on the trade, so probably a wash again.
My questions: Is the Yanmar 424 that much more of a tractor than my LS mt125? Will it do more than the LS? Is the Yanmar better built for the long run vs the LS? I have factory warranty on the LS for the remainder of the loan, the Yanmar warranty would expire w/ 2 years of payments left.
Before I even bring up the subject w/ SWMBO, what do you guys think? Give me your yea or nay, or pros / cons.
