Aircraft mechanic’s trick: Insert a piece of the largest diameter wire that will fit through the roll pin through it and twist the ends together on the outside of the shaft. That will prevent the pin from migrating again.
If you only have say .032” wire, you can get fancy and do a couple loops through and do a figure 8.

Dang! That is awesome. I have used safety wire all my career, but I have never seen it used like that. I will have to dig out my safety wire pliers. Thanks! We are never to old to learn.

In my 45 years as a professional mechanic I have never heard that trick. Ingenuous I would have to say about that idea. Thanks for that one.

As an aircraft electrician in USMC I used safety wire extensively and never saw or heard of this trick. Awesome!

Glad I could help.
The gears that drive fighter aircraft gun systems are often held onto a shaft with a roll pin and safety wired like that. I’ve never seen one migrate even after firing thousands of rounds.
