Any help with installing a radio in my LS XT3037C would be appreciated. LS suggests having dealer do it and I really can't afford a radio & paying the dealer his bucks.

I did my own installation in an XR4040C. I can see why LS recommends having the dealer do it - not an easy task. The smart money says remove the roof which would require at least two people on ladders. But it exposes everything and makes installing a radio bracket easier.
And as a side line - you can insulate the underside of the roof while it is off(wish I had used this method).
Also, I would recommend removing and discarding the stock speakers, they're useless. I replaced them with Kenwood 3 in 1 speakers. True they're still 4" and don't carry bass very well but I'm happy with them.

You don't have to remove the top. Remove two nuts (one each side) above the doors. Then remove the two nuts that hold the front cab lights and unplug them. The top ill now hinge up lifting from the front. There is a prop rod inside the compartment to support the top. You now have access to the radio wiring. See the link below that I posted the wiring color codes. Its a fairly simple job. I bought my radio at an auto parts store and used the factory speakers.

Radio wiring for XR3037HC cab models

Sometimes I have problems getting this copied link to work. If it doesn't work, go to the top of this page and do a Google search for "Radio wiring for xr3037hc", then scroll down the page and it will be listed there.

Here's another useful link.

Here's a little tip when connecting your speakers to the radio,....some speakers don't have their polarity marked on the connectors, negative wire must go to negative and positive to positive of the radio or you'll eventually blow your speaker. "Take the two wires from the speaker and connect one end to a 9 volt battery and the other wire to the other end( BRIEFLY") the speaker cone must come "outwards" not "inwards", if it goes inwards, reverse the wires on the battery,...then check the polarity on the battery and this will tell you where positive and negative is on the speaker.;)

Wow, I wish I knew that George - life during the install project would have been much easier.

Thanks for that nugget.

I'm not sure about blowing your speaker, but wiring one backwards can cause it to cancel out the sound coming from the other one making the audio suck.
