LS XR4155HC

I am thinking of upgrading (actually just buying an additional tractor). I have been looking at a Kubota Grand L 5460. It looks like I could save about $7000 between the Kubota and a LS XR4155HC. I have looked at and driven the Kubota but have not had a chance to look at the LS. Does the LS have plastic or metal hood and fenders? Any other input as the models would be helpful.

My hood is metal, but the lower side panel skirts are plastic. Mine does not have fenders.

One thing to look at is radiator and cooling fan placement. Some are behind the engine, closer to the operator which can make more heat blowing on you. Some are at the front keeping the heat away from you, but more prone to debris accumulation and possible damage.

Mine has metal hood and fenders. Only plastic to speak of is the dash. Mine doesn't have a cab, so even being stored in a metal carport, I forsee it fading and cracking in the south Arkansas heat over the years.

Sorry to butt in but one question: Why the desire for a metal hood? My NH T2220 is eleven years old. The plastic hood still looks great. It's not faded and of course, has no dents from items bouncing off it. Yes, I store it indoors but the plastic still looks awesome; especially for a 2008 model.

I know some people prefer plastic but for my uses I prefer as much metal as possible especially on a tractor. I have a 2006 Mahindra tractor that is all metal except a few plastic trim pieces one of which is missing a chunk. I also have a JD lawnmower with a plastic hood that is cracked in many places. The hood has gotten to the point that I have to be very careful when opening the hood. I have a 1993 Ford truck which I bought new. It is in great condition other than a few interior plastic trim pieces. I tend to keep things for a long time and it has been my experience that plastic holds up better over time and is easier to repair when damaged.
