ls185 blows 5amp eic fuse(elec instrument cluster) and quits

was running fine then dash started flashing volts and slowly shut down was slow to crank once before that, thought the battery was bad so got new one and with a little trickery jumped the cables to start it from battery sitting outside machine because boom was down in the way to replace, still couldnt get to crank and found fuse blown, replaced fuse and it started fine bit will only run around 5 minutes before fuse blows again. any suggestions
