I was just at my dealer today to pick up some filters for my Cubs and he had in the 09 LTX1042. My guess is that this replaces the LT1042. Wow! It appears as though they really cheapened them up. No more electric clutch or even a front bumper. My guy said the turning radius is tighter but to do so they have holes in the frame for the steering links. Not to mention the thing just looks plain ugly. I know a few people with the LT1042 that have had them a few years and really like them (especially for the price), however, its sad to see them continuing to cheapen them up. I guess its just the world we live in!

Interesting. 2009 models historically don't come out until February. There is basically no info on the '09 LTX series yet, but from a quick internet search, it looks like the LTX will be offered in 40,42,45,46 and 50" deck sizes with some LTX "VT" models thrown in? Dunno what the VT is all about. No more LT, they're all "LTX" now. I've definitely got no problem skipping the ridiculously expensive electric PTO for a manual setup, provided it's a decent design. If it's just a swing forward/back deck to tighten/loosen the PTO belt like the bottom of the barrel MTDs, that's kind of weak.

It's true that they took out the electric clutch and went to manual engagement on the 2009's. I love the new design. Alot tighter turning radius and great new Mower deck! Plus a better bagger.

Big Plus!, It looks like they will keep the same price point as the 2008's

I saw an article (grit blog) that claimed the 1000 series frames will be 9-gauge, and that they'll have 5 year warranties. Do you know if there's any truth to that?

Google "2009 Cub Cadet 1000" and you'll get a few hits. The first two or three will have pictures.

If I get over to visit my dealer I'll try to remember to snap a few pics. I really do think that they are the ugliest things...especially without front bumpers

I think it is ugly too. But most of the new ones I see in front of the home centers are pretty ugly too.

Hey fella's, remember, beauty is only a light switch away! I don't think they are too bad looking:

Bad news is, the 2 low end models use the "continuously variable transmission" which is absolute garbage on a lawn tractor. I owned one of these belt/variator pulley drives prior to my 2544. It was horrible. Hey the great thing is they list " all but 2 models" as having an oil drain port for the transaxle! Sweet!

Thanks. I think it is better looking than the previous version.
