Hello all. I am posting this for my neighbor. He has a Cub Cadet LTX1050VT. I believe it is around a 2010. It has the B&S 24hp V-Twin. The problem is that when moving the throttle lever on the dash, the engine throttle moves very little. We checked to make sure the cable is moving, and it is. When you try to throttle down, for say idling, this thing is still screaming. Not quite WOT, but close. Is there any adjustment that can be made? Any ideas on what the problem may be, such a governor, carb, etc? Thanks for your help!

I'd check for grass clipping buildup and free operation of all the throttle/governor linkage on the engine. It's all under the carb on the front of the engine on the Kohlers, probably the same on the Briggs. May find a broken or unhooked spring while you're in there.

You might check to make sure the throttle plate can close.
If something fell in the intake it might be holding it open.

Thanks. I'll check for the spring, and the throttle plate and report back.

Ok I dove more into this. The throttle cable is brand new. When the mower is cold, it idles pretty normal. As soon as it warms up, with the throttle in the lowest position, the RPMs climb to just a little lower than WOT. Looking at the carb, adjusting the screw on the top right does nothing. The lever is t backing off enough to even hit it. If I push the lever on the bottom right side of carb up, the throttle lowers. However as soon as soon as I let go it returns to the high RPMs. Any ideas? Ive included pics below. The first is looking at the fron of the engine, second is the top of the carb.

The "brand new" throttle cable would make me a bit suspicious! I recently did a ton of work on a Husq with a 25HP Kohler that a local shop had previously "repaired". I found all sorts of stuff that was not reinstalled or reinstalled incorrectly, specifically carburetor solenoid wiring and throttle linkage (springs). Try to look up the factory engine service manual on-line to see if there is a diagram/drawing/photo of the governor and carb linkages. I bet you'll find something was not put back quite right when the throttle cable was replaced.
