Lubricating the 3 Point Assembly

   / Lubricating the 3 Point Assembly #11
I rotate/swivel my balls and use whatever I'm currently using on the other zerks. Doesn't make a lot of difference as long as they are greased.

What ever oil I have handy. Found that grease can make balls bind a little after while when dust, dirt finds them, Not so bad with oil.

I don't put anything on the 3 PH balls. Any type of lube will just gather dust and make it like sandpaper. It is best not to use anything. We put thousands of hours on our farm tractors, never greased the balls and never had one wear out or become loose. For our CUTs, no one is likely to put 10,000 hours on them with the 3 PH so the balls will never wear out. If they become frozen due to lack of use, then some WD40 or other penetrant that evaporates in time works well to free them up.

X2! I have never lubed my balls. :) I might consider a dry lube like a spray moly or teflon. I have some of both and have used those products on my grader blade pivot and landscape rake pivot.

I used to lube them with moly grease, then I put a Pat's quick change links on and now I don't worry about it. :)
