A friend of mine was working on a Case 480E with an electric fuel solenoid. The complaint was that the tractor started right away after sitting for awhile and ran like a top. But, if the tractor was shutoff at anytime, whether 1 minute or 8 hours after, the tractor would not fire. He replaced the solenoid, same problem.
Finally, he took the solenoid back out, looked into the bore where the solenoid screws and found an extra oring someone had installed to probably stop a leak. He removed the extra oring, assembled and the tractor started everytime!
