I need some advice. This year in some really heavy and deep snow my 72" Lucknow Snowblower that has worked like a charm for many years would cease blowing in heavy or really deep snow but the PTO kept turning until I took some of the pressure off and it would start blowing properly again. What I am wondering is if one of the gears in the Comer Gear Box may be sripped or worn to the extent that under heavy loads the auger would stop turning or if the problem was with my Kubota B32 that I use for snow blowing? Any comment or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is this a front mount or rear mount blower? I doubt gear box would work, quit and work again but anything is possible.

It is Rear mount I also need to use the bucket on some of the deeper snow.

With rear mount I would question PTO shaft spinning on input shaft to gear box since I think most blowers the shaft is straight thru for running the fan.

Possibly a key sheared off in the auger drive; gearbox or sprockets.

I'm now 80 Plus but do not fancy pulling the gear box apart unless I know for sure that is where the problem is. For now I have just parked the snow blower and will soon put the mower on. If that does not operate properly then I will know the problem is in the tractor PTO

So the fan is turning and the auger stops in heavy going? I would check the two flanges that the auger shear bolt connects. I rebuilt my 72" Lucknow clone several years ago and found those two flanges rusted securely together. If the shear bolt is cut, the flanges might stick together under light load but slip in heavy going. Just a suggestion based on my experience. Good luck!
