My grandfather has a LX 188 that barely moves. Dealer has replaced part of the hydro pump from what Grandfather says and it worked good for a while and now is moving real slow. Dealer wants $1,000 to fix it. What is involved in rebuilding the transmission or finding a replacement. Does Deere build it or someone else? What would be a good price for the tractor if he sold it as is? I think it is about 10yrs old. Starts and runs good and mowed good until it slowed down. Grandfather was thinking about putting in some heavier weight oil and giving that a shot.
Thanks for any and all advice.
