My LX266 is a great mower, but I have a couple minor problems I'd like advise on how to fix.

#1 - for some time now it appears the mowing deck is slightly off level. One side is cutting just a tad below the other side.

How do I adjust that?

#2 - The yellow foam part of the seat has completely detached. I fear it will blow away when I am trailering this tractor to my other properties for mowing.

Can I just glue it back on with some silicon caulk type stuff or???

#3 - front right tire will not hold air. it is in good shape (no cracks etc). I've tried some of the tire goo (inside the tire) and it slowed the leak down, but it will not hold overnight.

Replace the tire? More goo? Fix a flat? Advise please.

Thanks in advance!!!

First, check your tire pressure. You said you've got a leaker on the front already, chances are one or both of the rears are low on air, and have more squish than they should, causing a 'list' which will cause your deck to be not level. With soft rear tires, the deck will be MORE off level when you sit on the seat!! 10 PSI in the rears, 14 PSI in the front. Tube the ones that don't hold air.
Replace the seat. Polish the hood. It will make your tractor look new

Elroy,

before I discovered the leaker, it was definately worse. But now I religiously inflate all the tires almost every time I mow. I have been concerned that somehow I bent something that the deck attaches to and that is the cause of the "listing to port".

I will look into tubes, I did not know those existed.

I do have a brand new top for the hood (it cracked) and it does look very close to new (only has 191 hours on it, I've owned it since Sept 2005, I think it is a 2003 model).

I'm going to try to re-glue the seat before I buy a replacement though... I'm sure JD replacement seats ain't cheap! :)

Thanks for the post sir!

Be well,
David

For leaks in tires: Add more "Slime" To all 4 tires. If the leak continues, add more slime. Once you get enough slime in the tires you will not have to add air. If the tire gets low later, add more slime. Tubes are just delaying flat tires. It takes about 1 pint in front tires and a little more in the rears. I am a believer in the product.
When the tires are at the correct level the deck should be level. If it is not consult your owners manual for how to adjust the dect to level it. If you don't have an owners manual, post back and someone will give you the correct level procedure. It's easy to do.
The seat: It is impossible to re glue the seat. However I found a solution for mine that became detached. I put one strap around the back of the seat with the yellow foam part inside the strap and around the solid black back support of the seat. Use one about an inch wide that has an adjustable clamp type clip. Cinch it togather. It will hold and the gap in the strap on the inside curve of the seat will not affect the comfort of sitting on it. Eventually you will have to but a new seat. Orechelen or Tractor supply replacements run about $60

The mower lift arm brackets at the rear of the mower deck are adjustable by loosening the lock nut and raise or lower the deck or one side to level the mower. The front bracket will level the front and back level the same way. Loosen or tighten the nuts to change front to back. Make sure both sides have the same amount of threads exposed so the deck stays straight ahead and not canted.

Get tubes as that is what I done, but they are not cheap. You can get a hood and seat off ebay reasonable. Level the deck with the adjustment screws on the lift arms. This will add value to your mower.

If the seat is the same type on my GT 235 I used Shoe Goop to glue the pad to the pan. This was several years ago and it has held. The trick was not to skimp on the glue (I used several tubes), to do one section at a time, clamp, and allow to set overnight.

Understood! Thank You!

Excellent ideas. I will try these out before my next mow!

THANK YOU!
