Does any one know how to trouble shoot the multipower on a massy fergason 165 diesel tractor? or a manual that gives the details on how to trouble shoot and adjust etc? thanks for any help.

Have you got a copy of the OEM Massey Ferguson owners manual and service manual? You might just find what you're looking for in them.

Just in LOW range? Or in both HIGH and LOW?

It's actually SUPPOSED to free-wheel in low. When shifted into high range, low gear is being over-ridden. It freewheels to accomplish this.

If it's free wheeling in high range, PROBABLY the linkage is out of adjustment.

Again I have a 165 and it free wheels down hills. This is the correct operation. Just hope it never breaks as it's expensive to fix.

For other problems you can always ask Big Dean. He also has a CD for common problems. His health isn't that good so don't be in a hurry.

Our 175 has been stuck in low multi power for years. If there is a fix without rebuilding it, I'd like to know it too.
