Makes sense. M&M has been manufacturing 4-wheel drive jeeps since 1954, starting with a model based on the old Willie's jeep of WWII era. It owns Renault now, and since 2002 has produced an SUV line under the Scorpion brand in Europe and Asia. They also have a joint venture with International Trucks to make and sell trucks in India. They are the biggest SUV and truck manufacturer in India, so Range Rover would seem to be a good fit.
