Is anyone here knowledgeable about surplus 3/4 ton single axle military trailer models M101a1 and M101a2? I understand the a2 uses 3/4 chevy wheels and has a surge brake system, but otherwise, these are pretty similar trailers that weigh about 1340 lbs dry. The a1 uses old M37 wheels and doesn't have a surge brake system. So I'd prefer the a2 if I can find one at the right price.

They are advertised as having manual dumping capacity. I'd like to be haul off some shingles and haul a bit of gravel every so often and would tow it with my 3/4 ton truck.

Any opinions or thoughts....?

Maybe I should have posted in the welding or build it yourself forums?

Reading more at the Steel Soldiers website, some are saying these trailers weren't built to dump, but to nest together for shipping.
