Hi everyone,

I am an avid reader of everyones posts and for the most part have been able to find almost anything out from many of you.

I am now caught up in a decision that i cant seem to find an answer too.
I went to my local kubota dealership and the owner let me test drive a cab m108s which was the 32x32 transmission. this was the biggest tractor i have ever used and i really liked the hydraulic shuttle transmission. the power on the thing seemed to be endless and i was very impressed with it to say the least. i am just wondering if anyone has one of these out there and if they have had any trouble with it. i currently have a m6800 that is a little over three years old with around 300 hours on it. it has the stohl fel and a bradco rear backhoe which i have not been impressed with either one at all. i started out originally with a L3830 with the factory fel and backhoe which was a dream to run. i now have a 235 acre farm with a little over 100 acres of mowing and was wondering if anyone has had any of these larger m series tractors with the fuel injection. i have about 125 acres to keep mowed all summer and was wondering about hp requirement versus what works best for running a 15' batwing or a 21' flail mower. he is currently offering me 32500 for my traded m6800 and the m108s is spec'd out with 18.4x34 radials and cast iron center with the 32x32 hydraulic trans and a kubota fel with the self leveling valve and the 3rd function on the loader, it will also have the tank skid and optional 3pt hitch hydraulic lift arms. the price was right around 55000, and also this is for the open station model and my m6800 is a cab model, just curious if anyone had any thoughts or ideas.
thanks
Danny B

Hi and welcome to TBN!

I don't own the M108 but I have looked at the M96/M108 machines and wish I could justify getting one, they're nice! I have used other Kubota M-series machines though. You can pull a 15' batwing with less machine than the M108, but the M108 will have the power and weight to make the work enjoyable.

Kubota has a configuration tool called "Build My Kubota"on this page:
kubota - M96S/M108S
which allows you to configure and price M96 and M108 tractors. I just did this for an M108SDS (M108S with 4wd, open station ROPS, 32F/32R transmission, cast iron rear wheels, 18.4-34 radials, FEL self leveling, 84" bucket, 3rd function, fuel tank guard, 3 point hitch lift assist) and the list price is $54,532.

You did not mention if you were looking at 2wd or 4wd, the configuration I did was for a 4wd model. So, your dealer price of $55,000 is too high, unless he was just throwing out a ballpark new list price number. If your dealer has a machine that has been there a while it should list for less because it arrived before some recent Kubota price increases. Finally, this is just the list price, you should be able to bargain a better price. It's possible though that your trade is complicating matters, I have no idea what it's really worth, the dealer could be inflating the value of your trade instead of knocking some off the new tractor.

Hope this helps.

A fellow farmer has an M108 and he loves it, he paid in the mid 60's about 2.5 years ago. He has 4wd cab w/loader. He says it uses less fuel than his early 80's model Ford with 80 hp.

thanks for the info on the m108s so far, if anyone has any other information about it please tell. he quoted me 55000 and that included the 5 year extended warranty on both the loader and the tractor, thanks for the info.

I've got a killer deal on an M95 right now... think cab, loader, swing shift plus transmission at about 45k. Its an old stock unit that needs to go. Same size tractor, simular transmission, just a little less engine HP. Prior model to the M96, before they moved to TIER3 engines. Drop me a line if we can help.

You did not mention if you were looking at 2wd or 4wd, the configuration I did was for a 4wd model. So, your dealer price of $55,000 is too high,
He is pricing off list and padding the trade-in. The M6800 TLB is not worth what he is showing.
