Cracked open the manual to make sure I had all the filters I need for the 50 hr service and there's no hydraulic filter change called for at 50 hrs. Seems like cheap insurance to me, anyone change them at 50 hrs or am I being over cautious?

I did change the hydro filter at 50 hours. I have a Bobcat CT350.

Back then, the argument I remembered was whether the fluid had to be changed. It was assumed the filter needed to be changed.

It was called for on my MX, took it for granted it would be on a bigger machine.
