I was working this past week and I picked up the back end of my Trailer that I haul my M59 on. Its a 14k dual axle trailer. I had to do some welding under my trailer and so I wanted to lift the back of my trailer up off the ground a good bit to install some blocks under it. Before I could get off the tractor to put the blocks under it, it had already leaked down and was on the ground before I could get started. I have a M59 with 27 hours, the cylinder that leaked down was the main hoe cylinder above where it latches. As I might mention though, my front bucket was lifted a good bit because I was in a tight area and it was over a 6 foot fence so I could work in the tight area I was in. I'm not sure if that would cause this, but wanted to get some feedback if any. Thanks.

I don't know what effect that having the bucket up would have, but in general I can tell you that mine doesn't leak down at anything like that rate. In the first picture below our BH has just lifted that 1000+ lb rock out of the stream and carried it ( very slowly!) about an eighth of a mile without any leak down.
Later on when landscaping - see second picture - of course we don't work close to any suspended rock, but we think nothing of asking the BH to hold it in position for many minutes while we walk around discussing just which side should go up, or maybe even take pictures. I'm sure it would eventually leak down, though it happens slow enough not to be noticeable.

Valves do vary and I've heard that control valves will always leak some. Having just looked, I cannot find a spec for leak down rate in the M59 workshop manual. Maybe someone else can find it or knows another source. But I'd think it needs to be way less than you are seeing. We know it can be because ours is.

The workshop manual does go into a lot of detail about how the BH valves are individually replaceable within the valve stack. And reading through the pages and pictures makes it look like a straightforward mechanical job.

Mine doesn't leak down like that either.

If i don't put the latch on after a few days it will be resting on the ground, but not that fast.

That seems to be WAY to fast of a leak down.

Sounds like one of the seals in the valve isn't sealing like it should.

I've left my 59 with no load for a week + and the hoe was still in the air.
