Tractor
Kubota M6800
I am about to do a 50 Hr. Maintenance and was wondering if anyone has done a fluid change on this tractor using other than UDT or Super UDT Hydralic fluid. If so what did you use and what have been the results? Does your tractor still run?

Ed - You might have to override the Super UDT sensor. It should be located next to the kanuter valve. The sensor will lock out the starter causing the tractor to not run if ANY other fluid besides either Kubota brand UDT or Super UDT are used in the hydraulic system.

Naw....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The tractor will run just fine. The question is....will what you use meets the specs of Kubota requirements? There are a lot of discussions regarding this issue. Do a search and you'll see what I mean. It comes down to your choice. Yeh, the Kubota stuff is expensive but in the overall picture....is it? Compared to the price of the tractor and how often it is required to be done I pay the premium and use Kubota Super UDT so I'll never be questioned if there is some kind of trouble down the road. I use the regular Kubota UDT, although I'm thinking pretty seriously about trying an "off brand". If you want to find arguments about oils, you can get an encyclopedia's worth by searching the Oils and Lubricant's thread. We've got folks that really know their stuff and they put forth arguments that I don't understand, by a long shot.

Some say hyd. fluid is hyd. fluid, others say that there is a difference. My suggestion would be to use the Kubota recommended fluid while under warranty, though, just to be sure they can't come back at you and tell you that because you used Brand X that any faliure was your fault. After that...use your best judgement.

I use an off brand Super UDT equivalent that my dealer stocks. It's quite a bit cheaper than Kubota's. My dealer said he started stocking and using it because customers were complaining about the price of Super UDT. He usually gives his customers a choice but if they have no preference, he uses the off brand. He says that he personally has noticed no difference in performance between the two.

I think I'd probably use the Super UDT for the 50 hour service and think about changing after that.

I can't find the sensor or the valve. Where are they?
