Have an 07 M7040F 2wd with the 4speed Transmission with high/low range. I cant get the tractor to shift into low range. It will shift between high and neutral with no issue. But low acts almost as if there is no low range to shift into. Clutch is nearly brand new with maybe 3hrs use since replacement by Kubota dealer.

My Kubota M6040 is a 2009. It took at least 100 hours before the high/low range shifter worked even half way easy. Its still really stiff at 250 hours. Some times it helps to push the lever pretty hard into the range and then gently back up the tractor. Almost 100% success doing it this way.

I will try this, however I have pushed rather firmly, and fear breaking something. The selector will shift between neutral and high range almost effortlessly

Am I understanding that it shifted normally before the clutch replacement? Problem started after Kubota dealer worked on the tractor??

Not pointing fingers, simply trying to understand when this problem started and was it gradual or instant?

My M7060 was almost impossible to shift out of Park (it's the 12 speed) when it was delivered new. I had the dealer come out, they adjusted it (a connecting rod I believe) and it has worked perfectly since. Apparently was a 10 minute job for them.

I agree with the others, this sounds like a good question for the dealer. If they recently worked on it, something may just need to be adjusted.

My 7040 was always hard to shift in and out of low. I would push in clutch, put in first gear, pull ht height low lever to low and slowly eas out on clutch and it would drop into low.
If it is really cold it would be very hard to engage low.

Dunno if this will help in your situation but i have an L2501 with fewer than 50 hours on it -- it's an HST model --- and I couldn't get it into low range despite my following the instructions printed in the manual [and also on the fender itself] which tells u not to force the lever but to "slightly depress the speed control pedal to rotate the gears inside the transmission, then release the pedal to the neutral position and then DEPRESS THE CLUTCH PEDAL, wait a moment, and then shift the lever."
I would follow these instructions time and time again and with absolutely no success until recently when I decided NOT to depress the clutch pedal at all and the damned thing went into low range as smooth as silk. {Go figure.}

My 7040 was the same way. It didn’t help that the lever was so short either.
