Sounds like a nice tractor and decent price.

for the money, i think that line is a good solid machine compared to the higher prices grand L series with all the frills. on the tranny, it is (i believe) not synchro in 1st or 2nd. can't say on the price, but it seems good. for overall utility work i think you can't go wrong.

I recently purchased the same model, except the one I bought had the cast rear wheels and no rear remote. The cast wheels and remote are both fairly expensive options, I'm guessing around 1k each, so it might be a wash between our two machines in terms of price. Everything else was the same (grill guard, transmission, 4wd, loader). The machine I bought was new, with no real hours on the tach (1.2 hours or something), but not sure if it was technically a 2009 or 2010 model. I bought it in November of 2010 for 29000, with 0% financing. If I would have paid cash, I think I could have paid a little less. I negotiated quite a bit and I think I got the local dealer down as low as he would go. I could have gone to a dealer outside the area or outside the state to get a lower price possibly, but I wanted to form a relationship with the dealer and have him available in case there are any problems. And that has already paid off. The right rear tire, when I first got the machine, had a flat spot. So, when I ran it down the road at a higher speed (>10), the flat spot would cause a bit of a bounce. I suspect the tire simply had a rare defect. I called the dealer and they were able to come out, take the tractor for a ride, and confirm it. If I had gone to a dealer out of the area, this issue probably would have been much more difficult to handle.

So, on the price, that seems fair. I'd look over the machine and make sure they didn't abuse it when they used it. But not much could be done to it in 12 hours. Take it for a ride, shift through all the gears, back and forth.

And even if you do hear of someone getting that machine for 500 less somewhere, there is value in having a dealer your comfortable with and that is convenient to get to.

And overall, I'm very happy with the machine. It replaced a 50 year old massey for me, so I was used to a basic tractor. This one offered several nice upgrades from the massey, but it's still a basic tractor, quality built.

Ok I finally made the decision to get the M7040 HD with FEL, cast ag tires,QA bucket ,block heater .

We decided on rim guard for the tires, made the deal. Ok thought I was done . Dealer called today and told me the tires had all ready been filled with calcium chloride.

they are making a price adjustment of $500 if I take these tires.

As long as the fluid is above the top of the rim the calcium chloride should not hurt the rim right?

You are better off with the tires filled even with the cast wheels. You'll thank yourself one day.

If you get a $500 discount on top of it then all the better. You might put that advantage to a Kubota QA fork lift attachment. That's another "you'll thank yourself one day" situation.

Congratulations on your new tractor.

We use to use calcium chloride in our tractors and all of them developed corrosion over time though it took a very long time.
