Hi. Moving from a gun CUT to a real utility piece. Thought I had it figured out until I visited the local Mihandra dealer today. After seeing the mPower 75 in person, I'm feeling pretty convinced rather than used green or orange, new red is on the menu. Can only imagine what the 85 will do.

I'm going to be in the woods on a slope more than not and maintaining a small number of cattle. I was well impressed with the smooth shifting and the overall heft of these machines. Question about pricing and capability.

Looking for basic no cab model, FEL and grapple. Not sure I like the dual feature on the grapple and the buckets seem small for the weight. What have others done for buckets and grapples? Also, how does pricing on these work out? Finally, I've held off on tier 4 engines, but the new truck is going to have one and it looks like the tractor will as well. How are they performing?

Anything else that might help would be great.

Thanks,

Carl

I agree with you that Mahindra under sizes all their buckets. Since mine is a SSQA machine, I bought a bucket off of the next size up tractor and sold my old one to someone who needed it to move up a size for his smaller tractor.

Sorry I can't help you with the pricing stuff.

My overall Mahindra experience has been very good for the past four years. (Max 25 HST and 2538 HST). Our machines are smaller than what you are looking at, but both are good, capable tractors that outclassed any comparables from other manufacturers, and they have been trouble free. Five year powertrain warranty gives me comfort. Hopefully someone with a big machine can weigh in as well. As far as engines - Mahindra seems to have the best Tier IV solution since they don't use a DPF. One of the many reasons I stayed with Mahindra on the last purchase. Here is some info, and there is a video link inside this page: Introducing our Tier IV "mCRD Technology" | Mahindra

I do not have pricing on the large machines, but you can get a capable and strong yet relatively light weight grapple and third function setup with hoses. etc... for +/- $3,000. I have an EA Wicked grapple, but for an 75-85HP machine I would consider an EA utility Wicked unit: For Sale Root Grapples For Tractors Look at the second row for the stronger units that would work well with your tremendous lift capacity. You can search for their third function kit on the site as well which is sourced through WR Long, and is a plug and play set up. Hoses are mated for the loader and the brackets bolt on as well.

Dual lid - Mega Compact Utility Grapple - Free Shipping!
Single lid - Mega Compact Utility Grapple - Free Shipping!

Here are some pics of the 60" version of the mid range Wicked single lid grapple on a Mahindra 2538. Good luck with your decision!

Purchased M85 in March now has 50 problem free hours on it, used for moving dirt and cutting fields will need to look but think we paid mid-low 30's, bucket is small but works for me, nice quite drive and open area to stretch out on long days

Thanks for the pics and info. Linked to the grapple site. That and a skidder attachment are definite must haves for me.

SBR....did you get the open station?

I have a 84 inch skid steer attach bucket on my 6520 4WD. It is a 2007 model and it the earlier version of the 7060 and now the M75. I love the bucket width and the tractor works well with that size bucket. I have added 3/8ths thick end plates and a 2 inch thick wall tube to the top lip of the bucket. It has a receiver hitch in the middle on top, so I can move my 29 foot gooseneck around. I also added chain hooks on each corner. It is a beast. I call it the Big RED Beast and it can move lots of dirt. It's stable on slopes, but would be better with loaded tires. I like to keep the nose pointed uphill on slopes. As you can see, the bucket is way wider than the front tires.

The grapple is a 6 foot Titan Industries unit. It works well for me, but would have liked a wider grapple. I like the dual lids on it, as I can pile a huge pile of limbs up against a tree and push into the pile up to the tree and close the lids on both sides of the tree and pick up the whole pile. 6-2-12 Grapple First Time in Action.jpg8-5-07 Stump .vs Brandi & the Big Red Beast cropped.jpg7-9-12 Big RED Beast going up dam with clay.jpg7-9-12 Pushing Clay.jpg
It has a Tier III engine. I have heard the Tier IV engines has teething problems, but that was a year or two ago.

Pound for pound per horsepower, you won't find a tougher tractor.

That picture is awesome Brandi! Should send that to Mahindra so they can use it in print advertising!

Thanks Snowback. My son took it. My camera bag is hanging off the ROPS. Titan Industries sent me $$ for this photo and others using their grapple. Guess I could send it in to Martin, down at HQ.
hugs, Brandi
