Any M9540 owners out there that might know the location of the 4wd switch that illuminates the indicator on the dash?
I have the WSM and it shows the switch and how to troubleshoot it but not the location.
Hoping not to remove the left rear tire to access?
Currently the indicator light doesn't come on when in 4wd.
According to the manual with the tractor in 4wd there should be battery (12v) at pin T29 on the dash connector.
I'm not reading any voltage at the connector so my next move is to test the switch.
As soon as I find it that is.
Thanks in advance.

Hope I'm doing this right?
Here's the page from the WSM.
Any idea where this switch lives?

Probably on the side of the transmission somewhere. Look under the tractor while someone wiggles the lever (I assume your tractor has a mechanical shift lever like mine...) and follow the linkage that is wiggling until you find a switch that looks similar.

You were right.
Found the switch on the left side of the transmission shielded from view by the fuel tank.
Probably need to either; remove the fuel tank or remove the rear tire then remove the metal foot plate in order to gain access.
Suddenly, I'm not as bothered by the fact that the 4wd. indicator light doesn't illuminate.
Initially, my concern was that the dashboard was defective. But after testing for and not discovering voltage at the pin connector I'm fairly confident that it's the 4wd switch that's malfunctioning.
My plan is to address the issue at a later date when some help is available.

I love it when you figure out the problem and just how much work it is going to take to get fixed and decide...hmmm, maybe that can wait a little while! Are we related?

M7040SU doesn't even have a 4wd light, I don't miss it.
