I'd say it sounds like a bad bearing! It sounds like the roller cage is not working to keep the balls seperated. That simple, The newness tells me it should still be in warrantee unless the tractor has to many hours on it but I've seen them before and I hope I'm lucky enough to see them again.

Art its new I don't have 50 hours on it yet. I WAS EXPECTING A BIG YEAR DOWN HERE BUT THE DROUGHT GOT US. No cash crops this year so it sets in the Barn drawing dust. Wife says expensive toy until she gets on it. I think Kubota buys these axles totally assembled and warranty would be the way to go but I don't know if I want my Dealer's mechanic touching it right now.

You have some time but it would be nice to know which bearing it is. Do you have a loader for it? Raise the front end and spin it slowly to see if you can isolate the exact location. They are limited slip so you will need both sides raised.

Art good idea I'll try it this weekend and get back. I'm hoping someone will come along and tell us what they found. I hate to spend the time troubleshooting a unit under warranty but, I also don't want to put it on a lowboy and transport it 50 miles to my Dealer. My local Dealer can't even handle a M9540 in their shop. I had to go out of County to purchase it.
Tx...the wife says it sounds like rocks in the right front tire, but if it were so it would continue to make noise at higher speeds and it quits at 1 mph! By the way, whats your serial number if you don't mind sharing ( look at Muleskinner's posts on his M7040 for wiring issues) and does it light the dash up to show the glow plug symbol before you turn the key on over to start? There is a big difference in wiring harnesses between the early to later serial numbers. My S/N is 50587, M9540DTH, eng 5Y0654.

M9540HDC12 S/N 54022 ENG 7A1079 everything working except the float out of mud option. as per my owners manual(pg 15) glow plug will not activate without 32 degree (I won't be activated before then so I shouldn't ever see if it works) What part of the country are you located?
Tx I'm in Alabama and I won't see it either. It's garage kept but I would like to see the light glow like my Diesel pickup and I think it cuts down on black smoke at start up. My Cummins comes on for 7 seconds up to 80 degrees before it won't show on the dash. Ya'll had your share of water over there this year and the drought got us. Year before last Ivan got my pastures and turned them into mud. We had to rake the drift wood up and burn it to mow.
