MacDon mower conditioner

Anyone have any experience with MacDon 5000 mower conditioners? I am looking at a used one that appears to be in very good shape.

Nope. Just a general understanding that the "big time" hay producers work MacDon equipment and there's a sticker price to prove it.

Glad to hear I've arrived in the 'big time' and for only 10 grand then. I dragged it home and just wish next July would hurry up so I can try it out! A lot of winter between now and then! When does haying season start in Alaska?

Most generally, we are looking to cut hay around the 20th of July. If it's not raining enough to turn your hay fields into rice paddies! That's happened a couple of years and pushed us a whole month later - August 22nd.

Just this past year, though I got 2 cuttings beginning on July 4th and then again on the 24th of August. Gave the horses some of the 2nd hay this morning for Thanksgiving. Just about run me over! All leaves and hardly a stem.

You aren't so different than us in central Saskatchewan. We would usually start somewhere between the 8th and 15th of July. Hay is ready earlier but the weather usually isn't. 2014 was an early start for us too, July 1st for me and pretty good haying weather from then on. Being able to start that early usually gets us some second crop as well. Much better than 2012 when I burned 4000 small squares.
