Mackissic 3 PT hitch chipper/Shreddrer

Looks decent, and I did run across it when I was shopping, but I felt the Wallenstein BX42 was a better machine. I liked the idea of direct drive over belt drive, and the additional rotor weight is nice to keep the blades powering through the cut.

Now that I have created a few piles of chips, there are a couple things I really like that were not as obvious to me before. I LOVE the 4"x10" opening at the cutting surface. It provides quite a bit of flexibility in what you can feed through it without having to cut every little branch. I cringe thinking about how much longer cleanup would take cutting everything to fit those smaller, more square openings on some chippers.

One thing I was concerned about was not having the shredder chute, but I have found that the Wallenstein does a good enough job with twigs and leaves that I don't miss it at all. Granted, you would probably get a different result from a shredder chute, but for my purposes, it is not necessary.

Put that together with the $2400 price from Woodward Crossings (nice folks too, btw), and I just can't recommend anything else. I was tempted to try the Jinma, but in the end, I just felt more comfortable with the Wallenstein, and have been very happy with it.

OK, sorry for rambling .. hope it helped! LOL :)

I looked on it too and read some reviews but went with BX42. One drawback on Mac is, you have to move your tractor as the pile gets higher compare to others that has chute that rotates 360*. If you really needs the shredder check the Wally BX32. It has some good reviews also. It took me a while to get mine from comparing other chippers and reading reviews but am happy with it. Good luck on your purchase.

I recommend the Bearcat 73554 for a few reasons.

The rotating chute is useful both for loading trailers and spreading chips on flower beds etc.

Secondly, the shredder is a big plus - it discharges through same chute as chipper. Some reasons why:

1) grass and leaf matter can be put through for composting.

2) twiggy wood (like some willow I chipped in the spring) can slip through between blade and flywheel on a chipper - not on a shredder.

3) final clearing up - raking and putting debris in chipper does no good to chipper blade if the debris happens to include a stone (ask me how I know). If you have a shredder the stone bangs around but does less damage.

And it is American built.
