Went to a local farm equipment auction yesterday and I think I made out pretty well. I went looking for some QA stuff for the loader arms on my DS3510. They had fork lifts arms, debris buckets and one with a double grapple. They also had one that was about 3 ft wide with grapple and teeth on the bucket.
I ended up with the small bucket and grapple for $700 and they go for around ( as well as I could find) $2000. Nice change left in my pocket. Then 2 items later, A Versatech 42" pallet fork attachment. New they go for $684. I got it for $500 bucks. So with the change left, I bought a landscape rake to clean up all the maple branches in my yard from over the winter. I think 12 Maple trees were made to shed like my long haired Cat. . My Back will really appreciate it.

I was glad to get the bucket and grapple so I can clean up some of the mess in the woods behind the house that the loggers left in an area I use to mow. can't now..As soon as the loader 3rd hyd assist I ordered gets here, I will get it installed and get some seat time in the woods...Yay Spring......

Having been browsing the equipment ads on the internet, I had a pretty good Idea what the retail prices were. So if the bidding gets too close to the retail price, I usually quit bidding within approximently 100 bucks, Just made out great this year...

I just bought a set of new 48" 3700lbs Wildkat SSQA forks in the Richie Bros auction. My winning bid was $475 and was the lowest winning bid of any of the 48" forks and second lowest of any of the forks that day (about 14 sets).

The problem comes when you tack on the 10% admin fee that Richie Bros charge, then a 3% fee for paying online and then the tax. The total for me came to +- $600.

I love auctions, but in the end you have to be careful, it's easy to spend more than you would at your local dealer. In my case I think I did OK, but I didn't save tons.

I love auctions!, we have a fair amount of farm auctions around here, picked up a 1947 Cadillac,2 49 mercurys all for $600 a few years back! Just bought 6 storage racks from a restaraunt closer,5x6' tall adjustable shelves, came out of a couple walkin freezers,$20each! Also 16' double shelf, all stainless steel,$25...should go good in the new shop!

sounds like everyone made out ok. The previous owner pays the auction fees and I just had to pay the state tax. My forks were 42 inches. I did not want the 48 forks.

As for the mercury engines, gonna stick them in an 8N? make a good 6 or 8 cylinder tractor depending on what you got.

Got the 3rd function hyd kit today from UPS and started to install it. trying to get the proper fittings. JIP/NPT and they are not just found everywhere. TSC is the pits as for fittings. They only had 1 3/8 coupling set and loads of 1/2" everything needed. Think I will go to KIOTI to get the proper fittings...
