Does anyone know a source for magnetic battery powered flashing lights that you can stick on your tractor. This weekend I have to dig out part of my driveway that I haven't plowed. I'll be doing a lot of work while I'm on my road, I'll have all my lights on, but I want to be VERY visible. I thought some colored flashing lights stuck on my fenders would make my tractor even more noticeable.

I never worried about this before, but this past summer, my wife and I came upon an accident that had just happended between a pickup and a tractor. The tractor had all his lights on, and the pickup driver still managed not to see him! It was pretty bad, and I want to avoid a repeat of that!

I thought I'd try Radio Shack first.

Thanks for the info!

Do a search on Ebay for "amber light" and you will find rotating lights (refine it to EBAY motors). I bought one from a guy that sells them regulary called a "Blizzard Buster" for about $43 including shipping. It is an amber strobe with magetice base that plugs into a cigarette lighter. I am going to put on a quick disconnect pigtail for my tractor and put it on the ROPS.

Most Auto Parts stores have them, like a Napa or Auto Zone. They usually have the tear drop style rotating light for about $15-$20. If you wanted to order something you can also try <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=6970&langId=-1&catalogId=4006970&PHOTOS=on&TEST=Y&categoryId=1459>NorthernTool</A>

I just received their latest catalog and am sitting here browsing through it. AWDirect is where I got my bucket hooks and tow chains. Great place for all kinds of things tractor people can use.

That's what I did.. I put a couple of cig lighters on the back of my 4300.. and now I can plug in any cigarette lighter attached light and stick it on top of my ROPS. I use a double rotating amber light on top, strapped on with a couple of bungie cords, when plowing snow. Or I can hook up flood lights, or whatever. It's handy, and it works. The bungie cords are just so if I knock the thing off on a branch, it doesn't fall off and get run over and wrecked.. not that I've ever done that of course! /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I know that was probably meant to be a joke, but I started packing after seeing two cougars within 20' of my crew while mowing.

You've got how many thousand $$$$$ into you tractor. A few hundred $$$$$ +/- maybe into the rifle. What's $39 bucks to tie the 2 together and protect them both from harm. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Consider it an inexpensive implement / attachment. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Boy, I'm out of town for a day, and I get all kinds of responses!!

Thanks for all the info!!

After I posted the question, I went to Radio Shack, and found a flashing light that was discontinued for $3.95. It runs on batteries, and has a handle that I can hang it from the back of the tractor. Now I'll find two magnetic ones for each fender, so I can be seen from the sides.

My Oliver is a pretty big tractor, and has front and rear lights, but after the accident I saw this summer, I don't want to take any chances!

Thanks, again, everyone!!!

Glad you found something Rich. I had just added one of the cig lighter ones to my Ingersoll last weekend. After a few hours of plowing with just headlights, I figured I needed a little more. My wife thought I was strange,[I am, but thats anouther story] but I feel a lot safer.

That's something I've been thinking about. I'm trying to carry a chain saw, weed wacker and my lever action. I got the chain saw figured and maybe the weedwacker. The rifle's another story.
