Mahindra 6500 4WD
I have-figuratively speaking- the money in my pocket and am ready to purchase a new tractor.

I like what I see of Mahindras, and if I purchase one it will be from a dealer that is not from my area, so I assumed that I would be able to get some questions answered from Mahindra itself, since they have email addresses on their website.

I the past two weeks I have sent 6 emails to the email addresses listed on the Mahindra USA site, asking for further information. Two each to "info", "marketing", and "president".

I received a short one sentence answer to one of the messages from Marketing.

The other 5 messages I sent apparently are just being ignored. I must have asked hard questions?

Is this any way to sell tractors, and develope good customer relations? By being ignored? I feel that now I will have to continue looking at other machines. Sad.

Judging by some of the posts I read it seems that Mahindra has been responsive to others, or am I mistaken?

It just does very little to inspire confidence in a product when one is ignored.

Are others experience what I am?

Maine_Polack,

I have seen it written on this site many times before that you should only get a tractor that can be supported by a local dealer. They seem to be complicated machines and even well built ones require periodic service maintenance. I am getting a 6500 that I have described in previous posts, and my dealer has told me about little parts here and there that are replaced immediately when the tractor comes in. Each model has its own quirks that need to be addressed. I really like the mahindras too, but I think I would be a little scared buying one if noeone local could sell or work on them.

That being said, websites get a huge amount of email traffic when they post addresses like that. I am sure someone reads it at some point, but it probably does not get the individual attention you are looking for. I would talk to the dealer that you are going to purchase the tractor from, and if they cannot address all of your concerns I would call mahindra and get a live person with your full attention. Good luck with this!

Tim, I agree and would much rather purchase locally.

The local dealer-1 hr. drive- just about came out and said that If I buy a machine from "away", they would not service it, warranty or not. This place was $3700 more that 4 others, and they really got defensive when I pointed this out.

So....warranty service, service in general, and a dealer relationship is a large consideration. In fact that was the subject of one of my messages to the M. pres. \

It is looking more and more that I will have to reconsider other tractors, that can be purchased more locally.

I also agree that they must get a lot of mail but...two weeks is much more than ample time for a response. They are the ones who put their addresses out there and it is their responsibility to answer in a reasonable amt. of time.

Wow, that sucks. I guess you'd have to compare the cost of a different brand to the cost of whatever the local dealer is selling it to you for. I think you were talking about the 6500 4WD if I'm not mistaken. If it helps mine with a regular loader was quoted to me for 25900 here in ia. I ended up with some other options so it went up, up, up /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I would say anywhere in that ballpark is a decent price. I do think bills tractor is a little cheaper but he is in Texas right by the plant, so shipping would not be as much. I guess if it was me I would make an offer to the local (1hr) dealer for what the guy further away was quoting and if he didn't take it he knows he's losing a potential sale. As long as it's an apples to apples match, he'd be foolish to refuse.

Hi Neighbor,

I don't know which dealer you are talking about but Hammond Equipment in Auburn seems reasonably friendly and I just bought a 4' Rotary Cutter from Fred Hammond. They are in Uncle Henrys and have an open house coming up on March 26. They currently have quite a selection lined up out front. He claims the Mahindra line helped him double his business in one year. They are at 783-2591. I also notice the other Hammonds, Hammond Tractor in Fairfield and Union has an add in the Uncle Henrys this week as well.

I can offer no excuses for Mahindra.

I will say when I bought my tractor last year the dealer, parts counter and shop were all important in my choise. Using that criteria I eleminated dealers/brands. Then I started narrowing down which tractor/dealer I would go with.

All the major manufactures (I include Mahindra, Kioti, Branson in this list) make quality equipment. The dealer can make all the difference.

So my advice. Find a dealer you like. Buy whatever equipment he sells.

As stated, I did this and he dropped a whole $400, when the diff. was $3700. He assured me that was their "final" price.
So...he did refuse, and not in a nice way as noted in prior post.

Hey and Howdy MjgMac,

Yes, it was Hammond, but in Fairfield. A very unfriendly place to do business!

I did also call their other dealership in Union. They gave me a better deal than Fairfield, but still not close to what I had already gotten. They also said that there would be absolutly no problem providing warranty service. I really felt that was a real nice thing to say. If need be, and as things stand now, I would have no hesitation about dealing with them.

Has Auburn Hammond dealership had Mahinda's for a year? I ask because the other two dealerships mentioned, (all same Owner, I believe), just started to get them in over the past couple of weeks.

Well I guess that is his loss then right? Based on your other response it sounds like you have a service option with the dealer in the other township. That leaves you free to get it wherever you want as long as a fairly local dealer will honor your warranty. I don't think you'd be disappointed with the tractor anyway. I can't wait to get my 6500! Best of luck with your purchase!

I sent Mahindra 2 emails over a year ago, and still have not received 1 single response. At some point, I'm gonna drive over there and ask them personally why they have a "CONTACT US" on their website, if they are NOT going to respond. I've been over there before and spoke to a few people, and they all seem to be respectable folks. But whoever is in charge of checking and responding to emails is doing a lousy job. Maybe they have a SPAM problem or something?! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
