What if any is the easiest way to change the main fuel filter ! I made the change with help from You Tube to replace the pre filter with an on/off fuel switch saved my diesel from flowing out! But having a miserable time with the other.
Any suggestions would be very gratefully received and Happy Memorial day to those that gave us all so much and continue to give us so much! Asking nothing in Return!
And thanks for pointing out my embarrassing error!

When you say "main" I'm assuming you are referring to the one that looks like an oil filter. If that's the case it spins on like an oil filter. You will need a "filter wrench" to fit it. Once the old one is off dump the fuel from the old one into the new one otherwise you will play heck trying to get it restarted. Then add a little lube to the seal and spin the new one on.

From there you will need to prime it or remove most of the remaining air.

The main filter is not something that needs to be changed very often. The manual only suggests changing when you notice a decrease in power. My truck has a service interval of 10,000 miles which in my world is 800-1000 hours. With that in mind I only plan to change the main filter every 1000 hours. Especially since my truck doesn't have a pre filter like the Mahindra.

Excellent and thanks will leave well alone until such times as power loss et al.

I did a complete write up on it for the 1538. Same tractor really. The 1st filter uses a cheap paper element in a can. Loosen the bolt on the top center of the filter to get the can to drop off. What ever fuel there is in your tank will drain when you remove the filter can so be ready and it's best to wait till there's little fuel in the tank.
The 2nd filter, the one with the moisture sensor on the bottom, is a spin on. I used a strap wrench due to the limited access.

Look up my write up for complete instructions as to bleeding air etc. Both Mahindra manuals are worthless when it comes to service. BTW the second filter is a BOSCH and is not so cheap.
