Looking for some guidance: the curl up and float positions on my ML104 loader have become very difficult to opperate. All other functions work well. As it seemed like a mechanical problem, I tore down the control linkage, inspected and lubricated it. While the mechanical linkage was removed I found that trouble piston rotates only with a great deal of force applied, while the nontroble piston rotates freely. The hydraulic fluid has been changed along with a new filter.

Bottom line is that it is not proper for the machine to require the amount of force that is currently necessary to make the bucket curl and go to float. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

It would be wise to install a hyd gage and see if the cyl will actuate and cause the FEL relief valve to activate.

Are you having trouble with both spools in the FEL valve?

Are both FEL spool moving in and out the same.

If the cyl is disconnected from the bucket does it operate normal?

If one cyl is bad, it will affect the speed of operation.

The piston seals could be brittle , cracked, or whatever, and cause loss of performance.

If you have QD's, re-set all of them.

The return lines and port should be free and clear with no or very little back pressure.

Is your 3pt lever in neutral?

With a hyd gage installed, there should be no or very little pressure indicated.

When I apply enough pressure to the controls, everything will work. It is as though something is keeping the control pistons from reaching their full range of motion. Not sure what QD's are. Not sure what FELs are. All lines are clear and three point hitch operates properly.

I would like to know the hyd pressure when you move the cyl or max out the cyl.

Your spools should move in and out freely, and if not, there is something in the valve that is causing the restrictions.

Have you looked at the capped ends on the spool valve?

Is it both spools?

Qd's are Quick Disconnects fittings.

FEL stands for Front End Loader
