Well, finally got around to having time to pull the old battery out to put the new 24R battery in, but I ran into a problem. Getting the old battery out is not as easy as I wanted it to be. I figured to just tilt the battery forward and lift it up and over the hood latch, but it seems the battery is larger than that opening. Looks like I'll have to remove the small frame in front of the radiator that holds the battery and slide it out through the back of the frame after it's out. What a PITA...
Seems I'll be returning the 24R battery and look at buying a battery that I can tilt in and out the front over the hood latch as I need to, without taking the frame out again.
Has anyone run into this problem before?
Ted

My son didn't think it was too much of a problem, he removed the bolts needed and the side panels, cocked the frame sideways and slide the battery out and put the new one in.
I guesss I over complicated the situation , but pulling a battery out shouldn't require hardly any effort at all, the hold down bracket and the post IMO.
Oh well, everything turned out.

I loved the swing out battery tray on my old Ford 3055, above the valve cover. Bad thing was one had to swing out the battery to add oil.

dimensions and posted CCA's is the best freind you got .....measure it up and see what will fit...The Ultimas I like and use them ....Boats trucks and whatever else I purchased 1 yellow top once.....went bad less than a year learned the warrenty is less than the red one (but the yellow cost more?) so I stick with the red tops (still got the factory batt in my 06 7520)
Hey ted what's the turbopiper stand for? ...If its the pipers i Know I had a turbo arrow iV and now a Aerostar Super 700 ...both have turbos

PS the shorter the cables the better off you are..... Don't skimp on cables or connectors copper and big = more Amps

Mark
Unispeed,
I turned wrenches on both Turbo Arrow IVs and Aerostars. Aerostars sure were tight to work on.
Oh yeah..........I know you will like your 7520.;)

Sometimes buying online is also cheaper, especially if you get free shipping.

Ted

You will have to fly to Houston Hobby (HOU), as 90% of my tools are in the Southwest hangar there and I am a stones throw from Montgomery County Airport (CXO).:laughing::laughing:
