Mahindra 2415 will not start

I am having the hardest time getting my Mahindra 2415 to start. I was in the process of mowing in some pretty heavy brush when the tractor stalled. I was able to reset the PTO safety switch (pin was broken) and the tractor started up. I moved it back to my lay-down area and replaced the PTO switch. It no longer will start. I have tried everything that I have read regarding the electrical connections. I even tried to short the starter terminals, the first attempt the starter engaged and cranked the engine briefly. I tried again today and only the bendix spun. I really could use some help.
