2016 MAHINDRA 2538 TLB 1950 OLIVER BDH
HELLO IM NEW TO THE FORUM THIS IS MY FIRST POST. I RECENTLY TRADED MY JOHN DEERE 4400 HST TLB IN FOR A NEW MAHINDRA 2538 HST TLB. I HAVE ALWAYS DONE ALL OF MY OWN SERVICING FOR THE 13 YEARS I HAD IT AND SERVICE MY OWN VEHICLES AND DOZER. I RECENTLY PURCHASED ALL OF MY FILTERS AND FLUIDS TO DO THE 50 HOUR SERVICE. THE OIL, FUEL FILTERS AND HYDO MAIN FILTER ARE PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD, BUT THE HYDRO SCREEN LOOKS LIKE IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM TO BE REMOVED WHERE THE HOE FRAME WORK IS. LET ALONE THE SCREEN IS TOTALLY ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE TRACTOR FROM WHERE MY $70 SHOP MANUAL SHOWS AND THE OWNERS MANUAL IS A JOKE. HAS ANYBODY OUT THERE HAD ANY PROBLEMS REMOVING THE SCREEN ON THE 2538 HST. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW BEFORE I DROP ALL THE FLUID FOR NOTHING. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Do you just have the owners manual? Or do you have both the owners and service manual? If you just have the owners I can take a look in the service manual when I get home this evening to see if I can help. I am yet to complete any of the service on my 2538. I will have the dealer do the 200 hr service In a couple of months and then starting doing on my own from there. I wanted to show a good paper trail in case of an issue later on.

I changed my hydro screen couple months ago. I loosened one of the rods on the hydro foot pedal and it gave me room to take it out. Wasn't too bad but it is kinda tight fit.

Thanks Kennywayne at least now I know I don't have to remove half of the machine to get it done.

Just finished my 50 hour service. Thanks kennywayne you were right I dropped the hydro rod and got the screen right out. Glad I changed it had a good amount of filings on the screen and plug. Also had to use a breaker bar on the oil pan, front axle, and trans. Should be a lot quicker next service. Only been a member a little while but TBN and its members have been so helpful. Thanks guys

Hello fellow Mahindra owners - I have a 2538L and just had the 'water in fuel' light come on. just learned that due to covid my 2-location dealer is now 1 locations [1 hour drive] and thought better to ask here before a long haul to fix.

what should be the best way forward - order a replacement fuel filter and the problem goes away or something more ?

Thanks for any advice !!!!

I went through this 2 months ago with my 2538. I drained the tank and both filters put in new fuel and it ran fine, I went ahead and ordered new filters fron rubicon International And installed the later. If you clamp the fuel line below the tank you wont lose much fuel. I put an old piece of hose around the line before i clamped it.

both filters put in new fuel
mine is a HST - good to know you changed both - I saw someone post that they drained the 1 filter and just restarted to work just fine......TNX again

The filter on the left side of the machine has a water sensor in the bottom of the filter, unscrew it and it should drain the water.

Of course the filter on the right side has a bolt on the bottom as well that will probably drain water, to be honest I just changed the filter on that side and put it back together. I used vice grips to clamp the rubber line below the tank which slowed the fuel running out of the filter base on the right side but did not completely shut off the fuel flow.
