The 2538 is pre-wired for cruise. The first place I'd check would be where the 2 pigtails are located. First one is down next to the HST pedals, under the floor borard. The second one is inside the dash on the left side of the wheel (upper half). Possible that something got inside the terminal and closed the circuit causing the dash light to come on.
If that doesn't work, check for other wires rubbing against the pigtail (or the indicator light) in the dash. Might have rubbed thru the insulation, making contact.
If you haven't had a software update by your dealer in the last year or so, you might want to get them to do that. That might take care of it as well. Also, mine ran MUCH better after the update.

Last thing I'd try is disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about 5 minutes, and then re-connect to "re-boot" the computer.
