Ok guys you all helped me out when I made the decision for which tractor to buy and thought I would follow up. Overall my rating on my 2538 is an A+. I now have just under 100 hours on it. I have used it for brush cutting / Bush-hog, dragging my 500ft driveway, various front end loader work, and assisting with land clearing picking up and stacking trees after the backhoe lays them down. I did my own service on it and it wasn稚 too bad at all. I have to say I have bought many things in my life and this thing is one of my favorites of all time. No regrets.
It痴 hard to say what the most useful implement is but if I had to pick one it would be the box blade. My favorite would be the grapple. Picking up trees and stacking them was pretty awesome. I found the limits when I picked up a good sized cedar and it just didn稚 have the oomph to do it. The grapple weighs 500lbs itself though and it was a pretty heavy tree so I知 still not complaining. It did great.
If I had a single complaint it would be how hard the metal is on the ROPS bar when my head hit it while the bar was down as I was putting on the Bush hog and my hat blocked my field of view as I was raising myself up after putting the pins in the 3-pt mount. You壇 think that would only take 1 time to learn...but no...I have done it twice. Made me see stars and bellow out a few choice words.
Also, the parking brake lever is of very cheap material. Will bend by hand. But it does bend back.
Only thing I致e broke so far is the sliding rod attached to the bucket that lets you know the bucket position. That was self inflicted though. Picked up a big stump with the grapple and as I rolled to backwards a leg of the stump got it. Bent it 90 degrees!. Easy fix though.
Overall...money well spent. 12 acres of land doing chore work. A perfect machine for the job. I actually enjoy using it.
