Mahindra 3510 gear oil

I am looking to change the fluid out in the rear differential. I think the hydraulics are shared so I am curious what grease to use. I just changed the front out and used some 80/90. Will this work in the back also and how much. Thanks....

Re: Mahindra 3510 gear oil

No, the transmissions & rear differential all share the hydraulic resevoir, hydraulic oil. The front axle is the only part of the drivetrain that is seperate and uses the gear oil. Your 3510 might have the same capacity as my 4110 which is about 8 - 9 gallons, could possibly be a little less. You have a screen type strainer to clean in the bottom of the case as well as a suction canister type filter and a spin-on hydraulic filter as well. You will need to change the 2 filters and clean the strainer and with the new hydraulic oil you should be good to go for another 600 hours before doing it again. Good luck with it !!

yep use a universal trans/hydraulic oil. (which is different than plain hydraulic oil) I use traveller brand from tractor supply since it is available locally. Our 2810 holds about 5 gallons if I remember right.

Thanks for the responses fellas. My original dealer went out of business and the next closest dealer, who did my service has now done away w/Mahindra. They never even greased the zirks when he supposedly did a full service on the tractor so it's time for me to get hands on anyways.

My front axle will hold 2.1 gallons of 80/90 gear oil. The rear will hold 7.7 gallons of thf. The service manual does say gear oil for filling in both, but I realize this is not the case. I will have to get another filter to do the rear. I only have the black spin on type filter right now. Thanks Skipmarcy for alerting me to the extra filter, didn't realize that at the time.

I will post a pic of filling diagram and capacity table for the 3510/4110 gear tractors along with the tranny filter diagram. Maybe someone will find it useful someday as I have discovered there is not a lot of info out there, or maybe I am just not looking in the right places.

I'm surprised to see the radiator requires fresh clean water. I put anti-freeze in mine.

I guess in India, maybe it never gets cold-lol. Their manuals are not the best in the world.

Only the early 35/4110's, like Skips, had the second filter on the rear gear/hydraulic system. If yours has the second one, it will be located in front of the upper hydraulic lift arm as you stand at the rear of the tractor. Also the 3510 and 4110 used different filters located under the right side of the platform. Most of the 4110s, except the very later ones, used a canister type filter, and the 3510s used a spin on filter.

So all I need to do is change the filter Galen, no suction screens or other filter to mess with? I have a later model 3510 from my serial number.

If it has never been cleaned, I would clean the suction screen, and should just be the one filter.
