Hello all. Newb here. Signed up out of necessity and the need for knowledgeable help.

I lost hydraulics today digging up an old stump. I've been thumbing through my manual with little to no success. Fluid level is okay. In the troubleshooting section, it points to either the pump (I'm hoping it's not that) or a clogged suction filter. I don't know what that is or where it's located, in order to check that first. I also don't know what it looks like.

Can anyone help me locate it.

P.S. I'm assuming it's not the main hydraulic oil filter. (190 hrs on tractor)

Unlikely to be either. ... Does your 3point hitch work? Do you have remotes?

Rear hitch? I didn't try it. It was up and I left it alone so I could drive it to the house. I will go and try that in a bit. Remotes? I don't know. What are remotes? I didn't really mention that I lost all function of the front loader.

Sorry I'm so ignorant about this.

Just checked the rear hitch. Doesn't lift at all. It seems like I have zero pressure to all cylinders.

So, does your front loader work?

If no hyd, check your sump filter if you have one. Look in the manual for location.

Check that the hyd pump is actually turning.

Check that you have fluid at the pump IN port.

A hyd gauge should help you troubleshoot your hyd system.

OK. Im guessing there are a lot of connections at your loader valve/joystick. Put your bucket on the ground, tractor off. Disconnect each Quick Coupler by pulling back the collar, and then reconnect it. After youve done all the QCs start up and see if it works now. They get out of wack sometimes if something hits them.

Remotes are sources of pressurized hyd fluid that you can plug an implement into. Sometimes the valve that controls them will be inadvertently put in a position that affects the other parts of the system. Look for remotes and their control valve. Put this valve in the center position.

Nope, nothing works.

If no hyd, check your sump filter if you have one. Look in the manual for location.

The only filter I can find is the main Hyd. filter. It is mounted near the sump but above it. Looks like a normal car oil filter.

Check that the hyd pump is actually turning.

I have two of the hoses disconnected from the pump. I'll start it and try to look in and see if I can tell.

Check that you have fluid at the pump IN port.

A hyd gauge should help you troubleshoot your hyd system.

At this point, other than the pump, the only thing I can think it might be is the valve that handles the overpressure, is stuck open, but I have no idea where it is.
I think I'm just going to pull the pump. Maybe I sheared something on the drive gear. The hyd. failed quickly while I had the bucket stalled under tremendous
force trying to pop out the stump.
