Mahindra 4025 (4WD)

Problem #1 - I have a Mahindra 4025 (4WD) with the loader. When going backwards and using the float feature on the front bucket control valve, I have to manually hold the bucket control lever in the float position. If I don't, it will flop back down to the UP position if any bump or vibration is encountered thereby lifting the front of the tractor in the process.

It's a pain when going backwards to not only have to steer (with the left hand) to keep the tractor in a straight line, but to hold that lever up (with the right hand) at the same time. I am not as flexible as I used to be.

Problem #2. - Concerns the clutch pedal. The upper surface of the pedal is now worn smooth from use and my foot occasionally slips off of it - causing the tractor to lurch forward at inopportune times when in gear. Occasionally my foot will also slip forward and get caught under the left side hood latch. I have tried slipping a large rubber radiator hose over the lever and that helps a little. I checked with the dealer and found out that newer models have a different style foot lever with a rubber brake style pad. Unfortunately neither the lever (nor the rubber pad) will fit on my tractor.

Has anyone has encountered these particular issue(s) and if so, what did you do to remedy it?

Thanks for reading,

Mike

I cant help with the loader issue but I move my seat forward after getting on the tractor. that puts my leg at a good downward angle and has pretty much eliminated the foot slipping off the pedal.

You can get all kinds of slip-on pads for pedals; choose one you like, cut a piece of metal for it to fit over, and weld or bolt it to your existing pedal.
As to your float, it appears that the detent is worn. If the detent is actually part of the spool, there's little you can do. If it's a separate part, you may be able to replace it, or grind it a little, or weld/braze some filler and recontour it, so that it holds better. Or use a bungee ...

I had a similar slipping problem on my 4540. I tried two solutions to see which would work the best. On the clutch peddle I used some self adhering skate board tape. On the brake peddle I spray painted it black and sprinkled in some sand. When the paint dried, I sprayed it again. So far it is an even race, both work well and show about the same amount of ware, 10 months into it. I think I like the spray paint and sand one a little better. Sticky backed stuff like skate board tape has a tendency to fail and get gummy especially around things like diesel fuel.

I never have had to work on a loader valve, but I have adjusted the hyd valve on my log splitter. It has an adjustment for the spring that pushes the metal detent... thus making it easier or harder to go past the detent position. Your valve may have this adjustment, or at least, I would think that it should. The valves are made by various manufacturers, and usually not by the tractor manufacturer. You may find some markings on it and Google it, or, do the dealer route....... On the pedal, I would look into how hard it would be to take it off the tractor. Then weld some grating or homemade nasty pedal looking foot grabbing cleats to it, then reinstall... :)

I don’t know about that valve but I had one that would not go into detent. I took the cap off the end of the spool and cleaned it up including the detent balls which were gummed up pretty bad and worked fine afterwards. The one with detent usually has a longer cap on end of spool. If you see make , model or something to identify it google can show the parts breakdown and that will help. Good luck

Thanks to all for the replies. The loader valve has been doing this since it was new. I have just lived with it. The painted sand idea is good but it wouldn't last long before it was all scraped off. I was hoping to avoid taking the entire clutch lever off to modify it with some expanded metal, etc. but it looks like that is what I will end up having to do. Just too damned cold outside right now for projects.....

Again thanks to all. Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year.
