I have a friend that has a Mahindra 4035 tractor and is having some major issues without much dealer support. The issues are the following backfires and smokes at random times, glow plug light not working and water is getting into fuel sytem. The tractor also quits when you get on a incline. What could be the cause of these issues such as quiting on incline and how does water getting into system. The tractor only has 400 hours on it. Has any one else had similar issues. thanks

Simplest to start at the tank, is fuel being sucked up to the pump or is it feed from the bottom? Replace all fuel rubber hoses between tank and injection pump. Electric or mechanical feeding pump? No water in the fuel tank?

Not sure what the dealer can do about water in the fuel.......sounds like it’s related to that. Flush the fuel system and add new fuel.

Is there a warning light on the dash?

IF it has a water in fuel sensor, it'll be on the filter base usually. Look for wires at the base..
Water comes from 2 places.. either its in the fuel when he bought it or the fuel tank heats & cools often creating condensation..
To minimize that, we keep out tanks FULL..
There may be a drain on the bottom of the fuel tank.. remove the hose & with a catch pan, open up the drain & watch it..
Water is heavier than fuel & will seperate to the bottom "IF" left undisturbed.. SO water will come out 1st.. followed by a color change, then fuel..
IF he's using Bio-Fuel.?? Sorry, nothing can be done except change fueling stations..
Be aware that water in the fuel issues are not normally covered under warranty.. The dealer or manuf. has no control over what u put in your fuel tank.. Good luck
