Hello,

I have looked and googled but I can't find what I am looking for.

I am trying to find out what the ground speed of these two tractors is. I am wondering if the 4110 with 12 gears has a slower first gear speed than the 4530 with 8 gears. Or if the low speed is about the same and the 4110 just has more choices ( closer spaced ) as you gear up.

I plan to use a 6 ft. King Kutter II rotary tiller quite a bit ( 5 acres or so ) along with a 6 ft. medium duty Bush-Hog rotary mower.

I already have the tiller and mower. I plan on getting a FEL, box blade and a backhoe.

The tractor will be used to:
clean out hoop buildings
garden work - 5 acres or less
minor yard work ( landscaping )
lot / farmstead / chore tractor / road maintenance
feed ( auger wagon )
replace / install approx. 15 water hydrants
replace / install 10 -12 permanent livestock water tanks
a lot of woven wire fence to replace
digging trenches for several drainage culverts.
I will have at least 2 septic tank / leach fields to dig
clean out several small ponds and two springs
would like to be able to handle 1200# round hay bales
( is that too much of a stretch for the 4110 )

Is the 4530 as maneuverable as the 4110 ? The specs indicate that the 4530 is
heavier, has higher loader and 3-point capacity. Do I need that for what I want the tractor to do ?

I know all the specs say you need a HST - but is there any possibility of using a 3-point trencher with either of these tractors? I've got a lot of water lines to replace / new lines to install.

We have larger tractors ( 65 pto / 127 pto / 160 pto ) for field work or any other kind of heavy tractor work. I'm kinda torn between "buy bigger" and keep it small enough to be maneuverable in and around the buildings.

Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated...

Go with the 4110 as it is plenty of tractor for what you are doing, and first gear is like a creeper gear and will work very well with your tiller. Good luck!

First in low range on the 4110 is definitely like a creeper gear. I plowed my garden this evening (good old Kentucky clay) and plowed in mid range and second gear some. It actually plows better at those speeds than it does in some of the low range gears, as they don't plow fast enough to get a nice clean furrow, nor do you have any momentum.

The 00 and 30 series aren't all that great for tilling. They get the job done you just have to make a couple passes. My opinion is the 4110 would do better for tilling.
If you want a compact tractor choose the 4110 or something a bit smaller. If you will ever have a need for an ag type tractor then the 00 and 30 series are a good bang for the buck.
For all you are describing I'm not sure I wouldn't try the 3215 HST on for size. Of course with a foot smaller tiller and hog.

If I am not mistaken the low range first gear on my 4110 is 0.6 or 0.8 mph. I know for sure it is under 1 mph. I dont till or bush hog. and low range is actually useless to me. Everything I do I use medium 3rd and up.
