Second problem this spring: My clutch isn't functioning smoothly/properly. I am having trouble getting into gears and switching from forward to reverse, etc. The machine is a 2004 Mahindra 4110 with about 500 hours showing on it. And yes, I am probably guilty of riding the clutch too often at times. Guilty as charged.
Before going into full panic mode over a full clutch replacement job, I wanted to make sure the clutch pedal play adjustment was correct. There seemed to be a lot of play in the pedal, but I believe it has always been that way. I could depress the clutch several inches before feeling resistance. I'd term it a relatively soft clutch.
So I got out the manual and it says there should be just 20mm of clutch pedal play... so I adjusted the clutch pedal play down to about 20mm as measured at the pedal pad. I test drove it and was not happy with the result. The actual disengagement of the clutch is still happening at about the same position as before... kind of low in my opinion. So while the clutch pedal feels a lot stiffer, the actual engagement position does not seem to have changed at all. Shifting seems a little better, but still not perfect.
Therefore, I need more help from the Gurus. I've attached a copy of the page from the manual. Bottom line is that I'm not sure I am measuring the 20mm clutch pedal play dimension shown in the sketch in the right place and with the right technique. I may be misunderstanding the point of resistance vs. the point of actual clutch disengagement.
Any and all help appreciated. Thanks!
