Which way does the long hub on the clutch disc for a Mahindra 4110 face, toward the flywheel or toward the release bearing?

on cars/trucks and any tractor I've done, it points to the release bearing. Usually they can't even be mounted the other way as the center 'cutout' in the fly wheel is not deep enough.

When I separated this tractor, the clutch disc fell out in 2 pieces after unbolting the pressure plate. I put the new disc in with the long hub toward the release bearing but can't adjust the clutch far enough to make it operate. Good to talk to a travelling man.

did you replace the pressure plate? Is the new disk real thick? The correct one?

Have you adjusted the linkage to it's shortest position and worked it back from there?

Did not replace the pressure plate. Linkage bottomed out. Disc is exactly like the old one. The owner of this tractor had a frameless loader on it that bolted directly to the bell housing. He broke the clutch bell housing in two. Must have hit something very hard with the loader. I had to replace the bell housing and clutch. Pressure plate was OK.

did you replace the bearing? Even if you didn't, did you get it mounted in the fork correctly? Could have slipped out of the guide on one side, maybe.

I think you're stuck and will have to separate it again.

Maybe you'll get some other idea here from some one else...but I think you're screwed without looking inside again.

One other thought, is it possible to reassemble the linkage incorrectly?

Did not replace the bearing.Fork was in correctly (I have done that wrong before). Linkage only goes one way. Thanks. I'll just take it apart again.

Sounds like its backwards if its not doing anything at all. did the flywheel get damaged at all?

did you put the bearing in backwards perhaps?

On my 4110 you have to set the finger height on the pressure plate - a very tedious job. When I've had to change pressure plates I take the flywheel off and mount the clutch to it on the bench and set the finger height, then reinstall the flywheel and clutch parts. If you don't set the height, the adjustment linkage for pedal freeplay will be way off and won't adjust.
