My 5500 4WD with loader (later model) has 400 hrs on it with carefull use by myself only. I have always nursed clutches as an experienced heavy vehicle and machine operator. However recently my Mahindra would not disengage enough to allow easy gear selection.
I have adjusted the linkage from clutch pedal to clutch fork lever (max) and still have problem. I put a bend in the linkage to create more adjustment or shortening of linkage , slight improvement however not satisfactory. The clutch appears to have good clamping pressure when driven and has never slipped.
Is there an internal thrust bearing or fork adjustment? There appears to be an inspection plate under thrust bearing area
although removal of the front wheel drive cover /protection plate will be required.
any assistance is appreciated. I am located in a fairly remote area of Australia and a quick trip to a dealer is not possible.
The dealer I purchased from has sold the dealership and new owner has been vague about offering a diagnosis.
regards ross.

My 4025 had that issue once. The problem was that it had been sitting for a while and moisture had accumulated on the preasure plate causing a little corrosion and in turn the preasure plate was stuck. The solution was to place the tractor in high range and 4th gear, set the brake and allow it to slip under heavy load for about a half a second. The result was a properly functioning clutch instantly. If the tractor sits for a while I wedge a board against the pedal and leave the preasure plate disengaged, that will eliminate the problem. I think the clutch material is called "Cerametallic" and is a little more vulnerable to moisture, cant use asbestoes any more.

Hi Burzynsr.
Appreciate you responding to my problem! You are quite right, we live in a fairly humid climate here and my old F250 Hi -Boy often has a glued clutch plate when unused for a while, however this is not that, I'm suspecting I've got a broken locating pin on the clutch activating shaft. The clutch pedal has no resistance and depresses freely. There is a plate under the thrust bearing area however not sure as to how accessible the clutch actuation bits are until I remove the front drive shaft cover and shaft.
thankyou for your suggestion, sometimes I think we should have stuck with the horse!
regards ross

Check the roll pins on the clutch fork to control shaft inside the inspection cover. Mine were one out and the other broken. Same issue.
