I own a Mahindra 5500. Will not start. Dash lights work, head lights work, horn works, but when I turn the key nothing happens--no click, no nothing. Need help.

Safety switches are first items to rule out.
For example, forum members have discussed easy ways to make their tractors more difficult for the joy riding type thief and the answer has been to park it with the pto lever engaged.
When the key is turned to start the tractor nothing happens.
Make certain the pto is fully off.
There may be a safety switch on the clutch pedal or HST pedal. Sometimes the seat switch will have a consequence for starting but not all the time.
Shuttle shift not in neutral if you have one or manual transmission not in neutral.
If you have been operating on land with small branches and brush, crawl around underneath and look for wires pulled off.

Do you have an owners' manual?
Investing in a cheap multi meter so you can take some voltage readings when you have the key turned to start. The first place to check for voltage would be at the starter solenoid small wire.
Remove ground cable from the tractor frame and make certain it is clean and shinny. the connection may pass enough current to turn on the lights but when the starter calls for power the connection fails.
