I am in the process of adding some hydraulic "stuff" to my loader (future post) and needed a little more room for the hoses to clear. So, while at the local tire/muffler shop I asked if they did custom exhaust work. I explained that I had a tractor with vertical exhaust that I would like converted to horizontal, no problem they said. This morning I dropped off the machine, showed the tech what I was looking for in the end and left, anxiously awaiting the call. I stopped back after lunch and the tech was just putting the final touches on his part and asked for some clarification on the location I was looking for. When we were done discussing it I drove home (5 miles) and returned with the trailer, tractor was all done. I still need to make a bracket to support the front of the muffler and then slot the side panel to slide over the piping but I wanted to put up some pictures anyway. I am very happy with the work done by the tech, they didn't bat an eyelash about it being a tractor, just got to work moving it.:)

Hi ENG18LT,
Your mod looks good but I can say [from past experience with mine] - - in that position it will constantly blow dust, chafe, dirt, and what-not up & it'll get sucked into your radiator. You may as well plan on at least a daily (if not several times daily) stopping to wash out the radiator.

I had mine in a similiar position - what a bunch of problems I created! Since then I've moved it so that it will blow out at a 45 degree angle away from the tractor and it's been much better at not constantly plugging up the radiator. I don't know, maybe your 5530 has a much better style rad than I do. Just wanted you to be aware of a possible problem and to keep an eye on your heat gauge.

Hope it works out well for you. Greg

Thanks Greg. I made sure the tech welded the mounting flange so that the tip actually angles out and away from the tractor. So far the machine has been great as far as cooling capacity is concerned. It does have a screen in front of the radiator to catch most of the particles of crap. After a year and a half I finally got around to cleaning it off. The prescreen was 75% blocked and the tractor was still running on the cool side of things, so I am pretty sure it won't be a problem. Even if I run into issues with it the process for undoing the modification is very simple.

Thanks for looking at the thread!
