Loader and backhoe included there is about 10 grand in price difference. Is the orange paint that much better than the red?

The Kubota has a better transmission with the hydraulic shuttle. The Mahindra weighs about 1500lbs more. The Kubota has an optional added 3pt lift capacity. Mahindra loader lifts about 500lbs more than the Kubota. Both are very good tractors. If you are doing dirt work, nothing beats weight.

A couple of suggestions from a Mahindra owner. Depending on exactly what you will be doing with the tractor. If you will be doing much field work, forget about either of these tractors. Get something that has at a minimum of a 16x16 tranny. Forget about the backhoe, get a used industrial hoe or a mini excavator, about the same cost and even an old warn out machine with thousands or hours will dig circles around any of these hoes for the utility tractors.

Take this advise if you please or not, even ask some questions, but don't feel like what you have asked about are your only options.

Good luck with your research. ;) Oh, to answer your question, yes I do believe that the actual Kubota Orange paint is better than the Mahindra red paint. It should be, go to buy some and it costs more than John Deere green.

I'll agree with everything except the 16x16.

The Kubota 12x12 w/ hydro shuttle works great for haying, bush hogging and ground engaging work, for me at least. Yes, I've ran tractors with better transmissions but they were both >120hp.

For me, the 12x12 works, but there are many times that I am pulling the max that the tractor will pull. I work in rolling hills, there are times when it would be nicer to have a different gear than what is available to me. Obviously your circumstances are different. 95hp instead of the 75hp that I have. ;)

Thank you gentlemen.
This will be used almost exclusively for landscaping / excavation, brush clearing (sage and rabbit brush mostly), and some scraper work (1000' gravel driveway to maintain. It is a large investment, and I'd really like to get it right. I've looked at some construction equipment (Kubota TLB M59, Case) but the three point hitch is either another option (more $) or non-existent. While I have nothing against a well maintained used machine, there is little available in my area. That leaves me with transportation costs and either buying blind or personal travel to check it out. Advice is gratefully accepted.

My suggestion for the hoes was not to replace the tractor, but to get a hoe that works very good. But if nothing is relatively close by, then that is not really an option. Personally other than for transportation purposes, the M59s are a joke compared to a 580 Case or equivalent. They all have there place, or they would not be built, but some have a small nitch and that is about it.

Now knowing what you will be using the tractor for, either machine will serve you well.

The weight of the Mahindra makes the work easier, but the Kubota's hydraulic shuttle makes loader work along with over all use easier.

Good luck with your decision.

IMO... I'd give the M59 another look for that kind of work. The backhoe is totally in a different class compared to anything you could 3pt on a utility tractor.
