Mahindra 8560 pops out of reverse

I’m trying to find out why my 8560 started popping out of reverse. All linkages appear to be operating correctly. I tried adjusting it a little to extend the reverse position. That resulted in the forward position popping out as well. I see no cable only steel rods for the linkage. What is supposed to hold the F/R selector in the selected position?

Does that require splitting the tractor?
I had a thought last night about an old CORVAIR transmission I worked on years ago. I think it had a bolt that held a ball bearing and a spring in tension against something in the gear box. Is that technology still used nowadays?
I really don’t want to split this tractor apart again!

Not familiar with your tractor but most are accessible through the top cover where the shift stalk goes in.
